Welcome to Orff UK
OrffUK promotes the Orff Approach, which offers a set of principles by which creative education can be organised. Primarily the Orff Approach uses a trinity of Art Forms: Music, Dance and Spoken Word, with two central themes that bind them together: Rhythm and Improvisation. If you are living and working creatively such as a teacher in Early Years/Primary/Dance/Music Education, a Community Musician, a Speech and Language Therapist, a Headteacher wishing to inject creativity into your teachers and children, a Nursery Nurse, a T/A a Parent or nervous about teaching music: we offer training courses in the approach, can lead projects in schools or other consortia as well as providing a host of on line resources including video and audio. Our courses are activity driven and we learn through composing and improvising with words; dancing; singing and playing instruments.
Andrea Vogler's workshops explored a variety of genres/creative starting points including story-telling, soundscapes, junk percussion, drumming circles, and authentic world music grooves from Latin America and Africa; with plenty of opportunity for improvisation and composition. There was also the chance to take a fresh look at the creative potential of ‘ordinary’ classroom percussion instruments, discovering new ways to create sounds with specialist instrumental techniques.
