Social Media, Early Years and Courses

I was born in Austria and studied Elementary Music and Dance Education at the Orff-Institute, University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. After finishing my Bachelor programme, I went to Helsinki, Finland, to do research for my Masters in Music and Movement with Babies. I was always fascinated by how babies learn and how they use melody before they use words, and I felt very inspired by Finland’s tradition of starting music and movement classes with babies as little as 5 weeks olds. After having graduated with a Masters of Arts degree from the Orff Institute and my postgraduate studies at the Sibelius Academy with Soili Perkiö and Elisa Järvi, as well as studying with some of the teachers of the Finnish Orff Association JaSeSoi, I moved to the UK in 2009.

I have been a board member of Orff UK since 2011. I am passionate about Early Years but equally like teaching older children and adults. My work experience includes nurseries, primary schools, an art museum, instrumental and group teaching at Colourstrings Conservatoire, Early Years Music and Movement Classes in the community and group sessions at events like instrumental training days. I run my own little “Namumo” piano school, and I find it very interesting looking for ways to include principles from the Orff approach in children’s instrumental learning.
