Teaching Music for Creativity Key Stage 1

Venue: Little Ealing Primary School, Weymouth Avenue, Ealing, London W5 4EA

This workshop is for music educators who want to enrich and develop their practice to support children’s music learning through improvising and composing in group and classroom settings. The focus is on the 5-7 age range.
The recent Ofsted report on music education in schools highlights the need for music lessons to provide more opportunities for pupils to make progress in their learning. Teaching composing was found to be the ‘weakest aspect’ in most schools. The Orff Approach puts improvising and composing at the centre of its pedagogy and offers effective and imaginative approaches for the classroom.
